Giving Priorities
The Hamilton Family Foundation places its philanthropic emphasis on the area of education, particularly quality literacy-based educational projects in underserved Philadelphia area schools, grades K-12 (colleges and universities are not generally considered). General, capital, and operational expense requests are considered.
Exclusions
Grant requests for individuals, bricks and mortar projects, endowments, and other foundations are not processed.
Important Notes
- Generally, grants range from $3,000 to $15,000 and are made on a one-year basis.
- The board will review only one request from an organization within a twelve-month period.
- Organizations that have received continuous funding for three years or more may be asked to refrain from applying for support for a year or more in order that the Foundation might assist other worthy groups.
- Grantees must provide an evaluation report and financial report on how funds were spent within a year of receiving the grant; another grant proposal will not be processed until the evaluation packet is completed and received.
- Our staff will acknowledge receipt of proposals if applicants enclose a self-addressed envelope.
- We encourage you to contact us in advance of proposal submission if you have questions about whether your request fits our current funding priorities.
Incomplete proposals will not be considered. Please review the checklist on page 2 of the proposal before submitting.
